Winter is coming and the cold season is upon us. God was kind to hold the weather off in Challis just long enough for me to say my goodbyes and make my way back home to Boise. In fact, it snowed the day after I left… the timing could not have been more perfect. I have driven this massive RV around in some pretty nasty weather, but I have yet to be stuck navigating snow and ice covered roads.
The drive through the mountains to Boise was peaceful… as I made my way through Stanley I found all the fires that had ravaged the forests of central Idaho had been fully managed and dealt with. For those of you who would like to read up on the fire’s that tore through Idaho this year here is an article from the Idaho Statesman that will give you the rundown along with some breathtaking photography: https://www.idahostatesman.com/news/local/environment/fires/article291566335.html
I spent the next few weeks relaxing with my family and enjoying some holiday r&r. My parents had just gotten back from a long trip halfway across the US to Michigan and we spent our time sharing stories of our adventures and playing board games. My aunt and uncle joined us for Thanksgiving and I ended up attending their church for a few services while in town, which were great. I caught up with a bunch of old friends and just had a generally nice break from the road.
Since these “breaks” that I take typically do not involve much adventure to share, I thought that I would continue the tradition of telling a story to keep things interesting. While trying to decide which story to tell, it occurred to me that this might be a great opportunity to make a video for you to watch/listen to instead of forcing you to read a long winded, poorly written wall of text. So that’s what I did. Linked below you will find my very first Youtube video.
I would love to get some feedback on this video both good and bad. I know the audio is not ideal, the video was taken using my phone while driving in my RV. There is a good amount of background noise that I did my best to EQ out. I actually ended up making several of these videos which I will release as I finish editing them. Subsequent videos will be filmed using a lapel microphone that should result in much higher quality audio… but beyond that I would be interested to know if you enjoy this video’s style, content, etc. I think a lot on the road… and I’m on the road a lot. So far, this has proven to be a great way for me to get my thoughts out of my head and into a creative media where they can be share with others. Any suggestions would be valued and appreciated.
