I think I’m ready. The RV is all outfitted and everything works. This post will likely end up being a living document where I may come to add various pieces of information pertaining to the process of building the various systems and upgrades to the RV, I’m not sure. I really should have documented that process better. I have pictures of several of the projects I took on while preparing this thing including the solar setup, dying the carpets, and completely redoing the captain’s area. I can share all that if there are parties interested in it… I suppose for now I am just anxious to get to the adventure.
So what’s the plan? Well, this first outing is going to be a trail run. I’m am planning to do a loop that starts in Boise, ID and takes me down through Twin Falls. From there I will head south to Wells, Nevada, then west to the Elko area. From there it will be north towards Wild Horse Reservoir in Nevada, and then up Highway 51 back towards Boise. I have stops planned all along the way and estimate the trip will take approximately a month and a half.
I have two main goals I want to accomplish on this trip. First, I want to attempt to get acclimated to this lifestyle. This is not a vacation, it is a new way of living… so I want to figure out how to integrate my typical day to day life while being out on the road in an RV. Basically, my first goal is to learn how to live in this thing. My second goal is to spend the majority of my free time on this trip communing with God and reading the Bible. I want to draw closer to Him in this time… and I want to have read His entire word by the end of this 45 day journey. Most Bible reading plans are set on a schedule of completing it within a year’s timeframe. I plan to do it in a fraction of that. I go into this knowing that much of the word will get by me in doing this, but this plan carries with it a further goal to continue reading the Bible every day as part of a devotional after completing it.
That’s it. I’m heading out tomorrow. The RV is all washed and waxed, the shelves are stocked, time to get this show on the road.
— Would you like me to add more information on this site regarding the RV hardware itself? Please contact me and if enough people are interested I will create some new pages on the various systems I set up and how I did it. Thanks! —
